The Return of the Dancing Master was filmed in English
Posted 2004-04-19
Urs Egger, the director of the film version of The Return of the Dancing Master from Lisa Films, was kind enough to write in to help clear up confusion about the film. I have pieced together some passages from our email conversation and posted them below. Please forgive any spelling errors.
Concerning the Austrian production THE RETURN OF THE DANCING MASTER, please know that the film was shot in English with several British actors in the cast, Matthew Marsh as Giuseppe Larsson, John Wood as Jonas Andersson and Michael Byrne as Wetterstedt and many from Scandinavia, among them Bibi Andersson as Elsa Berggren, Bjorn Floberg as Rundstroem, and the man to play Wallander in the future, Krister Hendriksson, as Aronsson.

The DVD currently on sale at Amazon and other outlets only contains the German dubbed version. This fall a special edition is coming out, with Original English, and probably French and Spanish, maybe even Japanese version as there is a lot of interest in the picture from many countries.

Urs has tentatively agreed to do a short email interview for Inspector-Wallander.org.
