| De jonge
Wallander (The Pyramid) released in Dutch |
| Posted 10 December 2004 |
In
October, Dutch readers were offered
De jonge Wallander
(The
Pyramid) from
De Geus, Henning Mankell's publisher in the
Netherlands. The title literally translates into
English as "The Young Wallander".
Like the Swedish title Pyramiden,
the German title for this book was originally titled
Die Pyramide,
literally "The Pyramid". However subsequent editions
have changed to the title of
Wallanders erster Fall, or "Wallander's
First Case". It's not known which title will be used
for an English-language translation so for now I am
going to continue to use the translation from
Swedish of "The Pyramid".
Willem Rol, a Wallander fan from the Netherlands,
has posted
his thoughts on the book here. I have run his
Dutch text through a translation program and posted
a quick-n-dirty English translation here.
