Jack Batten has reviewed the last Kurt Wallander novel Firewall for the Toronto Star. Here is an excerpt:
| |
Meanwhile, on the job, Wallander is discovering treachery among his colleagues. In the course of an interrogation, he is caught by a newspaper photographer in what appears to be a compromising act of violence. Wallander offers an exculpatory explanation, one that has the merit of truth. But neither the cautious new female chief of police nor the detectives Wallander has worked alongside for years seem inclined to believe him. Doubt spreads through the department. Wallander, feeling betrayed, acts like a man preparing to walk away from the police profession. |

Thanks to Greg (from Toronto of course) for spotting this one. |
