EBBA SEGERBERG teaches Swedish at Washington University in St Louis.

Lecturer EBBA SEGERBERG (Ph.D., University of California at Berkeley), Germanic Languages and Literature, has written a dissertation on Swedish silent cinema. In it, she shows how the Swedish cinema turned away from depictions of modern urban experience toward the representation of the rural for purposes ranging from the containment of provocative moral issues to establishing cinema as an aesthetic medium. Currently, Dr. Segerberg teaches courses on Swedish language and Scandinavian cinema at Washington University. At Berkeley, she taught courses in Swedish language and literature. Her research interests include silent cinema, gender, and national identity.
